About Us - PhilosophyOur core philosophy is that by educating people and giving them advice that is clear, consistent and practical, they can be empowered to take some responsibility for their own health and wellbeing. This delivers sustainable change, with lasting benefits for the individual, and for their employer. None of the information that we give replaces any conventional therapy, and does not constitute medical advice. Awareness The first step in any improvement programme is to help people understand what exactly is happening, and to become aware of the options that they have in any situation. The problem is that many people do not know what stress is, how it affects the body, and what the resulting symptoms are. They therefore have no idea what to do, and feel disempowered about doing anything positive or constructive. Other approaches A palliative symptom-based approach can fail to address the causes of the stress, and so fail to deliver a permanent improvement in health and wellbeing. It is therefore a relatively costly approach to employee health and wellbeing. In larger companies and the public sector, Occupational Health help to manage the problem, once the problem has arisen. Not just not-stressed! Do you drive an ”average” car? Do you want an “average” income? Then why just aim for “average” health? The World Health Organisation defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Our aim is to reduce any stress and empower people to achieve a state of positive wellbeing, full of zest and vitality.
